Paul Crawford Award Winner 2015: Jeffrey Tumlin
The 2015 award will be presented to Jeffrey Tumlin, Principal and Director of Strategy for Nelson Nygaard, for his admirable and inspirational dedication to making better places for the citizens of California. “This award is intended to honor Jeff ’s commitment to sustainable urbanism,” said Howard Blackson, Chair of CNU California Chapter. “We look forward to what he will accomplish leading transportation planning into the 21st century.”
For more than twenty years, Jeff has led award-winning plans in cities through out the world. His work in California is renown for balancing all modes of transportation in complex places. His transformative plans have accommodated for millions of square feet of growth with no net increase in motor vehicle traffic. He has assisted Californians in understanding that managing parking and transportation demand is a critical tool for revitalizing city centers and creating sustainable places.
A dynamic and frequent guest speaker, Jeff is the author of Sustainable Transportation Planning: Tools for Creating Healthy, Vibrant and Resilient Communities (Wiley, 2012).
Mr Tumlin will be presented with the Paul Crawford at the New Urbanism Film Festival on Saturday October 10th at 8pm, preceding a line up of short films on Urban Design. Tumlin will also be leading a workshop discussion for CNU members at the New Urbanism Film Festival from 1-4 on Saturday October 10th.
